The logos representing the Academy and/or its activities and purposes

Following the progressive growth of his cultural initiatives between 1950 and 1995, in autumn 1995 Juhar changed the name of AMOR-Accademia Musicale Ottorino Respighi into Academia Musicæ PRO MVNDO VNO. This was done to underscore the fact that the Academy's commitment goes beyond music alone and enters into the area of the balanced education of human beings as individuals and members of society. The Academy's main slogans – "Musica Pro Mvndo vno" and "Mvsica Pax Est" – present the concept of music, and thus something that bridges all rifts. It is thus a symbol and valid instrument for the construction and development of a cultured and healthy world. The two main logos of the Academy, designed by the German graphic artist Michael Ryba, symbolise the fundamental ideals and main goals of the Academy:
the Castle, which safeguards the treasures of music, is protected and defended by the ram and the lion, which respectively symbolise tenacity and courage;
the plan of the Church of Santo Stefano Rotondo in Rome (5th century AD), the universal symbol of harmonia mundi, expresses meditation and individualism, on the one hand, and dynamism and a community commitment on the other. These are essential elements in both music and a well-structured society.
The third logo is sometimes used as an alternative to the one reproducing the plan of Santo Stefano Rondo, as a way to underscore the participation of the Municipality of Rome. It was inspired by Michelangelo's design for the pavement of Piazza del Campidoglio in Rome. Here as well, we find the circle – the symbol of unity, harmony and perfection – with a circumscribed star, representing movement towards the outside world, which leaves no time for idleness |
